NWRC Networking Meeting October 2023

The North West Research Collaborative (NWRC) Research & Networking Meeting was held at Haydock Mercure Hotel on 18th October 2023 with 26 attendees.

We summarised the successes of the NWRC so far, along with why collaborative research is so important. Professor Kirwan also discussed what makes a good collaborative study.

Importantly, we were delighted to introduce the new NWRC committee to the group.

We had a brief catch-up on current NWRC collaborative studies, including;

• TEXAS – which has just completed data collection
• RESOLVE – which has funding for a PPI day due in the near future before study set-up
• SPIN – which also has PPI day funding and is due to start data collection soon

We also discussed studies in the development phases, both sustainability studies;

• REARRS – which is planning application for NIHR funding
• Sustainability in the Operating Theatre – which is looking for steering committee members

Finally, we had a group Blue Skies discussion about further studies which brought many novel, interesting and promising research ideas for the collaborative going forwards.
