All committee roles for the Northwest research collaborative are up for re-election and we encourage you to apply. Being involved with the NWRC committee boosts your skills and your CV:
- Build contacts in research active community in the Northwest, including the Northwest Surgical Trials Centre
- Get involved with the National Research collaborative
- Inside track on planned regional and national collaborative research projects
- Evidence of transferable organisational and team working skills for your CV e.g. organising meetings; writing protocols etc
The available roles are:
Chair – Overall running of the collaborative, chairing of meetings, maintaining links with other collaboratives, sit on the executive meetings of the Northwest Surgical Trials Centre and to feed back regarding updates from around the country.
Associate Chair – Support the chair, cover meetings of the NWRC and Northwest surgical trials centre and to aid in the development of policies for the collaborative
Secretary – Minute taking at the meetings and to draft these minutes for dissemination to collaborative members. They will be involved in liaising with steering groups for collaborative projects and to receive updates to forward to the webmaster to upload to the website.
Associate secretary – Support the secretary in their absence, to manage the NWRC email account and to organise the NWRC meetings (room booing, monitoring attendance etc).
Webmaster – responsible for updating and maintaining the NWRC website and social media accounts (Facebook/twitter). They will generate template designs for policy documents and to upload these to the website.
The NWRC annual report from the last year has been circulated and is available on our here and illustrates the great work collaborative members have produced over the last few years. This is your chance to get more involved in shaping future projects.

We would also like to thank our associate chair, Pete Coe who has successfully attained a general surgical training number in the Yorkshire deanery and wish him well in the future.
